Red light camera ticket situation

Here's the deal...got a bullshite violation while in nola in November. Video clearly shows I came to a complete stop at the red light and took a right after I let a car cross the intersection before going. Still got popped for it, may have been a malfunction...who knows.
Anyway, the whole system is fricking incompetent. I do not live in nola nor do I plan to go there for a hearing and I'm not paying this shite ($130). I call the customer support...guy watches video and agrees that I probably shouldn't have received the violation, but says that I just need to submit a written response and it may be taken off. I mail in my defense to the company in Arizona that does it, stating that it is not possible for me to appear at a hearing due to location. What do you know, I get a letter in the mail that they scheduled my hearing conveniently this week at 10am.
What would the OT do? Anyone have a similar experience? I know it doesn't go on your record, but would not paying it off mean anything significant?

Was there a "no right on red" sign? I can't see any other reason why you would be ticketed since you came to a full stop to let the other car pass.

Did you stop before or after the thick white line or crosswalk if no thick white line?

Did you stop before you crossed the stop bar or crosswalk if there wasn't a stop bar

Don't pay it. It's a scam and they have no legal right to fine you.

I'd rather just pay $130 than deal with the hassle and a possibility of walking out to my truck in a boot one day

It wasn't a "no right on red" intersection.
And the tip of my bumper may have been over the crosswalk, nothing more. But who's to say nothing was blocking my view of the oncoming cars to my left.

Go run the red light again. This time, raise your hand and extend your middle finger.

You're required to stop before the stop bar or the crosswalk completely, then inch forward if you can't see.
That's what they'll tell you fwiw.

That's crap, but I get it.
My main concern is that if I don't pay the 130, it will go to collections and affect insurance/credit score. Not sure if it's worth it.

I believe this could be ended with a strongly worded letter from an attorney.

Which is bullshite IMO obviously.
Ohio actually passed a law banning red-light cameras/speed cameras unless there is a police officer present at the intersection and there is a 3 year study done at the individual intersection that shows it would benefit from a camera.
The state just got sued though from municipalities for the obvious reason that they still want the revenue.
The Ohio Supreme's ruled it was constitutional, but a local judge is holding up another part of it.

Thanks Car, I'll read up on that thread.

I got a red light ticket here in Baton Rouge and I live here and no way am I paying it. They aren't doing a thing about it, not even sending anyone to collections. Even if they do, you tell them you never signed into any contract to pay them this money and they can't put it on your credit. From what I hear, even when it is reported the credit agencies are refusing to post them. It will not show up as a bench warrant and it wont stop you from renewing your drivers license. So don't pay!

Got one in Baton Rouge 2 or 3 years ago. They sent a few letters... the company in AZ, then some law office in OH or some shite. Everything came from different states.
I never paid it, the letters eventually stopped, I've had no issues with DMV services or collections.
It's all bullshite.
