So I should have just ignored it all together and then disputed it on the back end is what I'm gathering. Now that I have this hearing scheduled it means that I have acknowledged it and can incur more fines for not attending.

eta: not saying I am going to pay the extra fine, but it will just add more hassle.

Nope. My wife got 3 of them 3 years ago. Her car is registered in my name, so they were issued to me. Checked my credit score recently, and guess what? Not a single thing on there about them. I wasn't expecting anything to be, but this is just empirical evidence. My insurance policy has obviously renewed several times since then, and hasn't been affected one bit.

they suck a root and there's a big fight to have them outlawed in TX, but if you don't pay them, late fees and other BS charges are tacked on, and instead of paying $50-60 to renew registration you could be looking at hundreds or more, depending on how long you've let it go, and having to go to the clerk of court's office in person to pay, because they aren't going to issue the new registration sticker until the bill is paid, don't see how they could frick with credit, it's not a bill or a loan that's not being paid, it's just extortion

I still wouldn't worry about it. Don't go to any hearing, don't pay any bullshite fine... just ignore it.

Louisiana DMV isn't going to do anything and the fake arse ticket company can't put it on your credit. There is nothing they can do other than send you letters trying to convince you to pay the fine. Then they'll send another letter telling you the fine is more now b/c of a late fee... blah blah blah.

It's all bullshite, man. JUST IGNORE IT.

ETA - in the 2 years since I got my ticket I have renewed my registration, got a replacement license b/c I lost mine, got a new license when LA started putting "Veteran" on them, and 2 weeks ago I renewed my license through the mail. The DMV never once said anything about the ticket... BECAUSE IT'S ALL bullshite. A bullshite ticket from a bullshite company that's not even in this state.

Alright you convinced me. I'm done with this.

Might just call back and say frick YOU to the lady from the city court that put me on hold for 30 minutes this morning to talk to her "boss", then I called using another phone to ask her how my other phone call was going. She acted like she had no idea what I was talking about. Incompetent state workers.

She probably had no idea wtf you wanted. They don't have anything to do with those tickets. It's some private company that gives a small part of the revenue back to the city.

They always say something like:

Baton Rouge/New Orleans/whatever city Traffic Light Enforcement
PO Box 12345
Phoenix, AZ

They use some title that makes you think they're with the city government... but it's all a ruse. Why would a LA city be mailing you a ticket from a different state?

It's just a money grab. They send enough of those "tickets" out knowing that most people will just pay them. If everybody stopped paying that shite, the companies would go out of business.

I had a friend borrow my car for a few months. They got 3 red light camera tickets. After I got their so called tickets in the mail, I called them and told them to never call or send letters, cause there was no way I was paying them. That was over 3 years ago and I've haven't had any correspondence with them since. I'm in LA.

Edit: I still have an OT credit score.

The red light customer service person told me to call city court if I wanted to reschedule the hearing, that's why I called. But I'm done, no need to reschedule this bs anymore.

I just had to pay 2 of them. I definitely did not stop before turning right on red, no doubt about it hahaha I was thinking about not paying and then google told me that was a bad idea in Texas. I would much rather give the money to my city than some company in Arizona or wherever the frick it was.
