do you think Chavis' in game coaching of the defense during the bowl game with Notre Dame was directly impacted?

1. Chavis knew he was leaving.
2. There was bad blood between him and LSU.
3. With a month to prepare, the defense played its worst game since the Auburn game nearly 3 months earlier.

I'd say it's pretty obvious his coaching in the bowl game was impacted.

I remember when Les was asked during his post game conference what his thoughts were about the rumors of Chavis leaving, he replied " I don't give a damn." Les may have known that something was not right with the defensive calling that game.

If Les had any clue that Chavis was mailing it in, he should have suspended him and had one of the other defensive assistants serve as DC for that game. And honestly, how could he not have known? In a month leading up to the game, nobody noticed the DC wasn't doing anything but talking on the phone to A&M? Nobody? How could that be possible? It was a huge blunder by Miles to let this happen.

I am convinced that Chavis knew he was leaving. I just hope he had the integrity to play it out to the end on a professional level instead of "giving up" or not giving it his best during the game.

He did know he was leaving and he did not have the integrity to keep doing his job until it wasn't his job any more. Worse, he actively sabotaged the team in the game, intentionally causing us to lose to hurt us in recruiting. He knows football, but he obviously lacks any kind of class or decency.

Go pelini coached the bcs title game and everyone in the country knew he was taking the job. It worked out fine. I think chavis was a lil more secretive about it. Why fire your pool boy for spilling the beans? Why go after the money if we knew all along he was leaving? This deal seems like it happened behind the scenes.

Yeah, Miles should have asked Chavis for his cell phone record of calls to see who he was talking to.

And I'm sure the conversations between A&M and chavis took place in public for all to see.

We can put results of games on Miles' back, but get out of here with blaming Miles for the crappy actions of a DC being paid by LSU since 09.
