Old dog here. What would you do?

He's almost 17. Last week with impaired vision (cataracts) he seemed to be enjoying life. Today he can't see anything, and is walking around in circles frustrated, moaning, and panting. He gets very irritated when we try to pick him up to lead him to his water bowl or potty... he's already bitten my wife a couple of times.
We're all pretty stressed.

I hope you get bit again but for God's sake do the right thing and put him down.

I'm too smart for that.

If your asking the question I think you know the right answer.

You should dress up like him and make a video

17? dog probably should've been put down years ago

No, not really. He's always been pretty happy... even yesterday. This was pretty sudden. He's dramatically different today.

You don't put a dog down because they're blind unless the cataracts are causing them pain and surgery to remove them isn't an option for some reason.

Try to make him comfortable if it's possible and give it a day or two.
Sounds like there's more to it than cataracts.
If his condition doesn't get better or if it worsens, I think you know what you should do. Sorry Rex.

Don't be selfish and make the poor dog suffer any longer than it already has. You should know what to do...

Seriously Rex, have you had the cataracts looked at? A simple surgery could make a huge difference.

May have had a stroke. He's 17, ask yourself one question, "Will he get any better?"
Very sorry to hear that your pup is struggling. It is probably time for one last ride to the vet.

I've always followed the rule of if I have to think about it very hard, it's probably time.
I know you love your dogs, and it's going to be a rough time.
