So Mike's daughter-in-law is a little implied-blackmailer shakedown artist? That's how I read her line about the money, "Of course, it's just a drop in the bucket." Then we see Mike looking for "work." Little bitch.

I'm not following the whole "shakedown" angle - I thought this was the roll of money she found that her husband/Mike's son took while on the police department (dirty money that got her killed). She has been holding onto it since she found it and is simply asking Mike if it is okay if she spends it (keep in mind there is an ongoing investigation still). Since it is dirty money, Mike tells her if it can do any good, spend it.
