Using that phrase pretty loosely. Mickey and Martin both saying they will have a decision to make in the future and they will discuss it with their families. Real Earth shattering stuff there.

Mickey needs to improve his shooting game if he wants to be in the nba. Otherwise he'll likely play overseas if undrafted

Hopefully lasy night becomes a motivation for them to stay and play with the incoming guys. Real chance to kill it next year.

Answering such questions after an emotional loss is tough, but each will let the emotions pass and make the best decision (in their opinion) for themselves.

There couldn't be a worse lasting impression for a player looking to go pro than what Mickey did last night.

I don't think either are finished products yet. Martin, as of the last month, has JUST started to scratch the surface of his potential. He could get drafted in the 1st round based on that potential, but IMO he has a long way to go before he can become a realistic contributor for a NBA team. He could definitely improve by coming back. The only problem is that you have a legitimate one-and-done player (Simmons) coming in to take his role. If Simmons is everything he's projected to be, he's already ahead of Martin in skill level. Therefore, the question is how much more could he grow with another big-time player on the team who does the exact same things as he?

In January I though that Mickey was no-doubt leaving and that he had probably gotten close to his ceiling at LSU. I didn't really think that there was much room for him to grow at LSU. That's changed. This last month has really hurt is draft stock. While Martin's role could likely be replaced by Simmons, LSU has no one on the roster to replace what Mickey brings to the table. I really think that with the way Simmons plays (very unselfish) coupled with the development of Quarterman and a potential HUGE recruiting class, there is still room for Mickey to grow as a player. I think he's had his mind made up for a while that he was "not long" for LSU, but hopefully he looks at a guy like JOBIII and reconsiders.

If he comes back his role on this team doesn't change at all. He will just be playing with more potential NBA prospects than he has in the last 2 years. Plus, LSU should get much more national exposure next year if, for nothing else, their highly touted Freshman.

I didn't see any first round NBA players this season. They both need to stay in school and improve their games.

Well, I would think their current financial situations will be the deciding factor. I have no idea if they come from money or not, but money does talk, I heard it before

If they leave early, that the difference between successful basketball colleges like Kansas, Gonzaga etc.... compared to LSU's fart in the wind this year. Its unheard of the likes of kansas and Gonzaga players leaving early for the the NBA. They still have a lot to learn and teach when they become seniors...

would rather have a team of good basketball players that stay for at least 3 years and gel as a team than have a team with 2 guys who can dunk and block shots and be more "athletic" but cant play fundamentally sound basketball. screw measurables and physical stats...give me a team of good basketball players that play team ball anyday of the week.

Martin is probably gone, late first round choice. Could come back and improve to a lottery pick. Mickey has a long way to go, he has the game of a center in a small forward's body. He was beaten up so much because of his slight frame, he was a shell of himself by the end of the year. He needs to bulk up, work on his ball handling and mid range shooting. With Simmons taking Martin's place if he leaves and I expect great improvement from Epps and Robinson, Mickey would get the opportunity to work on his best pro position as O'Bryant did last year.
