I'm debating going to mud nationals in Texas next Wednesday- Sunday. Any of y'all ever been? Anybody going this year? And how is it?

Take a shot every time you see a lightbar.

I can't afford that much alcohol.

He would die on the ride up there alone.

i will give you my honest opinion, i used to mud ride alot and went once back in 2011, i have since got out of it becuase well drinking and mud and a bad arse bike gets expensive.
the good
-lots of eye candy both good and bad
-ride on thursday before anyone gets there its a nice park and is big
the bad
-too many drunks in one place is not fun
-stolen bikes and stuff
-traffic on highline is bad bout two hours to get to sand pit
-20k people is too many people in that park...
all in all go if you like. i went once and wont go back even if i still mud rode.
ETA: rednecks you say? well the hobby has gotten expensive and rich boys with deep pockets build stupid huge rides. so its a good mix between rednecks and lets say white sunglass wearing d bags lol

Mud Nats is one of those events that I've always wanted to try atleast once just to see, then likely never go again. I never get serious about making plans though as the reports of an insane amount of drunks, more theft than the inner city, and light bars in the day time just scare me away.

Sturgis
Went about 3 years ago, aside from the beautiful riding in the area it's pretty terrible. If you've been to one motorcycle rally you've been to them all. Ugly women, expensive beer, packed crowds, cheap T shirts, ugly women, bitch revving, and faux hardasses who are bankers, accountants, and lawyers the other 51 weeks of the year. I'd love to one day return but motorcycle crowds in general creep me out, the riding there is beautiful though.

I used to have a couple buddies that would hire a driver to haul their bikes up to one of the closer airports and then they'd fly in, ride bikes in to Sturgis, like Billy Bad Bikers, hang out for a few days, then get hauler to pick up bikes, then fly back. They took lots of pictures, though.

Pretty common, we trailered everything there. Motorcycle subculture in general is pretty facinating to me and though I love bikes, any and all kind, I've never really fit in. I have a motorcycle because it's fun, those guys have motorcycles because it makes them look tough. The pretend badasses, live to ride, ride to Starbucks guys always cracked me up.

Been a few times. Wait until October and go to mud stock. Better yet go to muddy bottoms on July 4th weekend.
