Home A/C issues Update in OP

Update: Added 4 lbs of freon. $60/lb plus labor and tax was 325. Said the coils in the air handler are bad. Might not make the coils for my air handler anymore and if they don't then I have to replace the air handler which is 2500-3k with labor and parts. The system is a trane that is 14 years old. The outside unit is fine.
What do y'all think...I'm about to tie one on for the LSU game. Geaux Tigers!
My A/C seems to not be cooling properly. The thermostat says 85 and it was on 73-4 all day. The vents are blowing cool air, just not blowing hard and obviously the house is not cooling down.
The thermostat is older than hell. I don't think it is 85 in the house, more like 78.
Anyone know what the issue could be?
I just turned it off and will wait a little while to turn it back. Maybe that will help...
Thanks for the help in advance.

Air handler could be done

Could be the coils freezing up or it could be the compressor outside. Check your filters too. Sounds like you may need outside help if it doesn't pull down over night.

Do you see ice inside the condensing unit or on your refrigerant lines where they exit the house?
Oh and change the air filter.

I replaced the filters earlier today.

No Ice on the outside unit and the lines coming out the house are wrapped in insulation so no on that

the coils may just need a good cleaning...

sounds to me like the inside coil is frozen up (likely due to low freon...
set the thermostat up to the point that the ac shuts off and then turn the fan switch on to run constantly...this will pull air across the coil and thaw it out if it is frozen...
if after about 15 minutes the airflow is normal, you can turn the thermostat back down to let see if it will cool without freezing up again...
regardless, call an ac man tomorrow...

I have one coming tomorrow. I just think they are all thieves and I never get a fair shake on things. Hate having to call the AC guy

How much is this bill going to be? A couple Gs or what?

if it is just low freon, it will probably be a hundred or two, depending on the age of your unit (which dictates what kind of freon it uses).....

Mine went out a few years ago and for what it would have cost just to replace the coils it made more sense to change out the entire unit. I forget exactly what I was quoted but I'm thinking it was between $1500-2000

If it's the compressor or condenser, a G or two at most.

Not trying to hijack this thread but has someone ever moved their unit that inside of their house from a closet to the attic?

It seems to be blowing normal again. Thank you for your help!
What does this mean for tomorrow?

If I wasn't dropping an unknown amount of money tomorrow on this damn unit, I prob would buy that thing. Looks sweet. Maybe down the road a little bit.
