Best modem and router?

Tired of having to reset the crappy modem we're renting from Comcast. About to move into a larger house and want to go ahead and get a strong connection for TV, gaming, etc.

Glad you did, I was going to start a thread similar to this. I do the 100mbps option and have a good connection, but the connection is very unreliable and flashes in and out pretty regularly. I have the standard issued cox modem/router combo currently. I had a router that i bought separately but haven't use anymore.

This, but not necessarily the best value or my recommendation. OP didn't ask for that, though.

I agree it's not the best value-wise. I would still recommend the surfboard over most other modems even for value, though.

Just make sure whatever modem you buy is in your isp supported list. As most of them will push firmware updates automatically
