Just curious if anyone thinks life will go back to normal over there. Seems like police will never be able to do their job with the amount of negativity the media is shoving in our face. The citizens seem to protest everyday. And most of the city has burn destroyed by rioters.

By "back to normal" do you mean issuing almost two arrest warrants per year for each person that lives there and having active warrants for 75% of its populace?

To understand some of the distrust of police that has fueled protests in Ferguson, Mo., consider this: In 2013, the municipal court in Ferguson — a city of 21,135 people — issued 32,975 arrest warrants for nonviolent offenses, mostly driving violations.

---Sometimes in reporting a story, it's easy to use an exaggerated adjective to compare injustice today to an injustice experienced at some other difficult period of human history. Now that the full DOJ report on Ferguson has been released, though, it's increasingly clear that the sick conflation of racism, the American profit-motive, and an abusive use of the criminal justice system were used to create a police state of historic proportions in this small Missouri town.---

NPR

Not just parking tickets, Ferguson averaged 567 non-traffic related court cases per 1,000 residents—far and away the highest of any town in the state and more than twice as much as the town with the second highest average. To put that into perspective, the city of St. Louis had 80 non-traffic court cases per 1,000 residents and that's actually above the state average for Missouri.

The cops and members of the judicial system should be publicly horsewhipped before being fired...to set an example for the rest of the country.

Pisses me off. What will happen to the Quick Trip gas station owner. Will he sue and come out on top? I assume he'll receive insurance money, but he'll have to find another property to rebuild another gas station. Property like that doesn't just grow on trees at a good cost. How long will it take him to receive insurance money?

What happens to the employees who worked at the Quick Trip? I assume the Urban League will give them all jobs at the Jobs Center making at least as much as they made at the gas station?

impossible to police

I fully believe that Ferguson's relationship with police is completely broken. I can't see the citizens cooperating with the police anymore.

If any of you would actually watch the news, and do a bit of research on the internet, you'd know this already. Most of the protesters there aren't even from Furguson, and are paid for.

What are you suggesting? That the police department stop enforcing the law, and for the courts to stop issuing warrants for those who ignore the initial summons?

I think what they are saying is that the laws broken (causing the summons, etc) don't count if you are a certain minority.

What is the town,70% black? It would'nt surprise me at all if the summons, tickets, etc had a 70% black ratio.

Kills is right, Ferguson is not a bad suburb of STL. It is surrounded by very affluent areas (Webster Grove, Clayton, Hill etc)…damn shame, the folks are frustrated with the situation and want their community back.

(I have family in Webster)

Count, actually Ferguson is a mixture. If I were to guess, 40-42% white…55% African American…then Hispanic residents.

(eta: Just check demographics, there has been a movement of residents moving out….Close to 70 % Afican American…29% White)

Michael Brown's parents destroyed it by raising him to be that way.

What? You wouldn't be surprised if blacks were committing crime at the same rate as other races?

Get that 70% number to 100% and see how the elections go. Just another study in demographics.

There you have it... so why would anyone be surprised if the ratio of summons, tickets etc issued to African Americans was under 70%?

If I lived in Veracruz, Mexico.... Id say about 100% would go to Mexicans.
