I'm talking about the actual town... Not the 2 events this year that will make it relevant

Life goes beyond sports, Stickmesiter. Epecially when it comes to music.

Heady, I was criticized by someone in the "official" thread for being "that guy" when I stated that the band playing will be The Dead with guest musicians, and not The Grateful Dead. That band ceased to exist in August of 1995. The poster who criticized me has seen a total of "0" GD shows (he isn't old enough to have seen them)--I have logged over 85 of them from '87-'95.....FWIW. But what do I know, right?
Now, to answer your question...I will not be in Chicago. My current feelings on this, it seems almost like a "forced" gods of jam supergroup. I'm not criticisizing it, it just really doesn't interest me (at least not enough to take time off work, and travel, hotels, etc.). I like to remember the GD shows with Uncle Jerry driving the ship the way I saw them. To me, that was The Grateful Dead.
And I like Trey and The Fish in their own environment for what they are and do.
Remember, I've got a few years on some of you guys and sometimes view things in a different manner (been there, done that sort of thing).
Also, I already had a trip to Jackson, WY booked for the long July 4th week. I imagine I will catch it live on a stream at a bar somewhere in downtown Jackson, WY.
Enjoy it man...

I never jerry play. It isn't the real grateful dead. I'm going cause trey cause I can't seem to find a dead show that blows me away and they seemed a little slow a lot of the time. I know it will probably be kinda old and slow in Chicago but I love treys tons and style and hoping he jazzes it up a bit. Plus it's just gonna be a great 4th of July trip. I have liked p&f and some other post dead bands quite a lot and I also like some of the JGB I've been listening to for a while now.
Don't let that Melvin I'm the other thread bring you down

I completely understand. I was 6 when Jerry died, so I never got to see him. I know this won't be the authentic Dead but it will be a nice celebration and probably the closest I'll get to the real experience.

Starlight Amp in KC - killer mid-size venue. Almost too small IMO. Should be a heater

Doing ATL and Tuscaloosa followed by a few days on Orange Beach.
