Why do we get so intrigued over the Bubble?

I mean, unless your team is involved does it matter? We get all up in arms over 11&12 seeds some that won't get out of the First 4 and others most likely going down in the next round, yet I find myself all up in it every year. Why do we do this?

Because you're a sports fan, you like college basketball, and with those two, like most fans, like to debate anything that you can

Because coaches lose jobs over this.

And some make the Final Four!

I for one can't stand when an analyst (looking at D. Vital) goes on-and-on-and-on about which team should have gotten in, but are reluctant to name a team that got in that shouldn't have.

If you are not already a fan of a team, then they quickly become either the Cinderella team everyone cheers for or the become the despised team that you want to lose immediately so you can say "I told you they didn't belong"

Because people love controversy

BC it's fun to talk about.
Watching teams elation and the reverse dream crush is also entertaining.

Well Cinderellas happen.
I don't care to focus on who got snubbed like some do. It's a field of 68...if you don't get in, don't cry about it.

Those 9-12 seeds can turn a good tournament into a great one.

In general, the top teams in the country aren't as dominant as they were in the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's. And mid major teams are about 1000x better today.
It was a huge deal when Valpo beat Ole Miss at the buzzer in 98'. Now 13s consistently beat 4s, pretty much every year. A 12 vs 5 and an 11 vs 6 are pretty much becoming toss-ups. A 14 will beat a 3 basically every year or two. And 15s are becoming competitive with 2s.
Last year Tennessee was a bubble team that made the elite 8. Sometimes good teams underperform or get unlucky during the regular season.
Still, one of the best teams in the country going into the tourney almost always wins, but just because that is the historical trend doesn't mean it is going to happen. UConn won last year and they weren't one of the best teams going into the tourney by anyone's measure. Mid majors and bubble teams can make deep runs and eliminate legit contenders... and I think one will win it all sometime relatively soon.
