Not really fair to weigh the last couple of years of his tenure so heavily. Few coaches go out on top. For most, retirement is usually preceded by a few painful seasons and the realization that the relationship is over. Brown's last years in no way tarnish his overall body of work. Few things you could count on more under his watch than death, taxes, and LSU in the NCAA tournament every season.

Never expected him to go out on top. His last 4 years in tiger town he was a combined 45-89.
