Lets reserve judgement on the JG/MU trade

Better yet lets not be like the TigerRant
Lets see the numbers Jimmie puts up this season and how Unger pans out. Maybe we can pull a playmaker to play next to him and protect DB in his twilight years.
Not really fair to talk about Unger's ankle last season and us having to still plug holes at C when Jimmie was nicked up the entire 14' season as well. Let's let it all play out.
Of course it would have been ideal to deal JG last season but we also don't know if there was bad blood after the te/wr controversy that played out. No room for any division in the locker room with time running out for a run before blowing it all up.
So i'm holding judgement and it's going to hinge on if we can actually score with the draft which this front office hasn't done recently but have showed in the past they can have a homerun draft.

Loomis has been visiting Aaron Hernandez in prison. Just saying.

Smartest thing ever said on this board.
I think the trade is a terrible idea, but im not going to call everyone on here a retard because I dont agree with them
I said ill never talk on here again after that trade, and I will stick to that promise after this post
P.S. Josh Hill should be our starting Tight End next year

Fairly sure the plan is to ride Ingram into the ground as we hit the twilight of Brees' career. This trade solidifies that.

Short sighted fans reacting to this can't see that this is a forward looking deal. In all honesty will we be a Superbowl contender this upcoming season? Probably not barring an amazing draft and some other breaks.... Would we be a Superbowl contender with Jimmy had we not done the deal? *ETA Still probably not (honestly odds were probably less). ETA** But, if Drew still has 3 or more years left in the tank, this is the type of move that allows us to be in contention in 2016 and 2017 for a bunch of reasons, particularly the cap.

Good thing he's proven he can stay healthy with the limited workload he's had so far in his career.

Me and some other posters were discussing last year about transitioning to a team that is built to run first for once Brees leaves.
Albeit I was talking about drafting Hill to accomplish this but maybe Ingram can handle a bigger load.

Drew has been the best thing to hit New Orleans, no doubt. However, the money that had to be allocated for him was going to cripple the rest of the team in the near future. The future is here.

Just wondering- Do you think Drew was consulted on the trade?
Secondly, do you think the Saints have a master plan from all this?
Are they targeting someone in free agency? Are they planning to use the two #1 picks to move up in draft?
Sure, they freed up a lot of cap money, but unless the Saints are thinking rebuilding, there has to be a lot more to this move!

No, we have the highest paid guard tandem in the NFL that played like one of the worst last year.
This cost us $2.5 million in cap space this year. It saves us some cap space in the future, but this was more about making fixes that we aren't comfortable with just in the draft.

Loomis has already said they have a plan from the offseason

I think we're clearly targeting at least a #2 corner in free agency

Why? This helps fix one of the team's biggest issues on the interior line, frees up future cap space (costs us $2.5 million this year), and nets us a #1 pick that can be used to complete the offensive line. This move could give us more freedom to free up one of the guard positions, saving us even more money that can be used on another receiver or a defensive FA
This team ticks with Brees and #1 priority is protecting him. We did a terrible job of it last year, and our biggest weakness was the center position.
This should improve our running game, goalline offense, and pass protection for Brees.

Given Brees' age and the fact we didn't extend him this year I had a theory that if Mariotta fell far enough maybe we would trade up for him. Another first gives us more ammo to do so.
It sounds crazy so I never posted it but who knows?

Not being a racist, but i do not want a black QB! I dont want a running QB. I want someone to sit in the pocket and pass the football. And a running back to run the football!
I do not mariota/winston if that means trading up

Next time you have a thought, let it go.
You are like that person that says, "no offense but" and then say the most offensive thing possible
