Not guaranteed by me -- guaranteed by SFC Keith Sanderson.
If you don't recognize the name, he's the (former Marine Corps) current US Army handgun competition shooter who has achieved the following:
2011 World Cup Final, Wroclaw (Poland), Bronze Medalist
2010 World Championship, Team Bronze Medal
2009 World Cup Beijing, Gold Medalist
2008 U.S. Olympic Trials, 1st Place
2007 Pan American Games Silver Medalist
2005 Military Rapid Fire World Champion
2005 National Championship, Gold Medalist
Sgt. Sanderson recommends some "at home" drills that will make us better shooters.

Raising it helps your draw speed.
Holding it still while pulsing the trigger helps with recoil.

Great eyesight and practice.
Plus, an accurate pistol. Very simple really.

Please don't hold it against me, but it'll be a while before I participate in a thread about a local gun class.

I watched this and then one Jerry Miculek.
Pretty different in their philosophy on their arm and shoulder positions.

You will see virtually all of the top USPSA & ISPA shooters using an isosceles stance. (Disclaimer: I'm not one of those guys, but I have shot with a few of them).
And Jerry has been at the top of those rankings (especially among the revolver shooters) for a long time. (IIRC Jerry's record with an 8-shot double action revolver is 8 shots in 1.00 seconds on a "tombstone" target at 5 yards.)
But I wouldn't be too quick to copy every little aspect of Jerry's shooting style. His grip strength is phenomenal - his forearms are bigger than a lot of people's biceps. And his hands, arms and shoulders are massive. So he can control a handgun using arm positions that might not work for other USPSA/IDPA shooters.
I spent two days with Jerry a few years ago for a one-on-one lesson. He didn't try to have me use the exact same arm/shoulder position that he uses.
However, the Sgt.'s tips on improving one's grip strength and dry firing should be of value for anyone.

For self defense, I wouldn't think squaring up to an armed target with the isosceles stance would be best.

That is one thing that I noticed was his strength. When he shoots there is virtually no muzzle jump. It's truly amazing.

I just realized that my earlier post (March 9th at 5:26) could have been construed as my taking a shot at you.
It wasn't.
