No idea but I have it in my yard too.

I'm gonna try some "weed free zone" on it and see what happens....spectracide didn't do anything.

Poa Anna or some other early grass. It will go away as you mow but next year try this product to prevent it from coming up

Blue-eyed grass. Treat with Atrazine or Simazine. Three-way broadleaf herbicides will work as well. May need 2 applications spaced 7 days apart.

I have seen a few clumps of this come up in my yard as well over the last couple of years...hasn't really been a problem, as it blends well with the st augustine early on and dies off pretty quickly when it warms up...

Thanks for the help, fellas. This stuff has been around for a few years. It gets hidden when the grass greens up, but does NOT go away.
The closest structure seems to be the blue eyed grass or the poa. I'm gonna see if the weed free zone I applied does anything, but if not I'll look at treatments for those 2.

If you mix 24d with a little killzall and put in a hand spritz bottle you can spot treat these things.
Kills pretty quick too.
Use the other stuff to keep it from coming up in the first place.
Hope that helps.

actually, this may be your best option if you can hit it with glyphosate while the turf is still dormant...

What's the AI on the industrial/commercial versus residential glyphosate? You can always take some glyphosate (roundup and add surfactant).

Looks like a mixture of bluegrass, kentucky bluegrass, featherbed bent and northern california sensimilia. I suggest you cannonball it....

Blue eyed grass. Poa is in seed stage now and would be covered with white seeds.

I'm not sure.. a co-worker gives me a 46% glyphosate concentrate from his family's ag business. I mix it with a little dawn and go to town.

I don't think it's anything mentioned in here yet.

quote:That's a home brew of what I was talking about. Chances are though if it's an industrial grade that's 46% AI (active ingredient) it's already got soap (surfactant) in it, which acts as a sticking agent.

Just be careful when you spray, sometimes other unwanted grasses will come up.

Update: "weed free zone" seems to be doing the trick.
