this is a timely thread...and I seem to be in the majority when I make very good $$ but am completely unsatisfied.

I am looking at taking a $15k pay cut just to move back to the industry segment that I enjoy being a part of. Granted the earning potential of the new job would surpass the $15K eventually but its still a hit.

Offer Letter from new company expected to today from one of their VP's.

Grateful I have it and the pay is decent, but it is mostly soul-crushing.

I was thinking about something like this yesterday. I haven't been looking for a new job, but I was thinking about a guy that I went to grad school with. He's a department head at a university, but makes about 20k less than me. I'm pretty sure I'd trade jobs with him if I could (would have to wait a few years).

Yeah, had the same thought. My life is just 100% consumed by this job moving around the country all the time. Have to say I've gone into a funk recently and know I've got to get out of here. Don't have family, a mortgage, or even pay rent, s I don't really owe anyone anything except myself, which is making this an easy decision.
