some good discussion. I think few are down on Cooks in any way. More is discussion of other picks or the need issue. The need at CB seemed to grow week by week.

Scanned most of this thread. This stood out-
To be honest, I didn't see much of Payton's offensive genius last year.

Ya know, I caught myself wondering if the league had caught up with his schemes and play calling. His unconventionalness has sometimes become too predictable. A hallmark of Payton when he first arrived was calling something that completely surprised me. Yeah, I'm very used to him now, but still. Last year things weren't clicking- for many assorted reason I spose.

I thought Cooks did pretty good. He had trouble getting going in some of the road games though.

other than the opener @ ATL he definitely wasn't as effective when ever there was a road game.

for whatever reason he did most of his damage at the Super Dome.

I hope this doesn't become a theme for him. Its probably just a coincidence though.

I was cool with the pick (and still am I guess) but I wanted a LB more. When Pittsburgh took Shazier before Mosley even got picked I knew the pipedream was over.

CB was a problem but some of that had to do with Jean-Baptiste hardly even playing. My beef with all of that is that if you view a player as a project then why use a 2nd round pick on him? I mean did he even contribute on special teams? I can get easing him into his role at corner but I thought he was going to do more than what he ended up doing which was hardly anything.

Watching a handful of journeymen play for us at corner towards the end of the year was something else man. I mean what better time for a guy to get his feet wet? We had guys I've never heard before out there getting quality reps that could have been his. I mean they said Baptiste wasn't ready.... I wonder if he had a big confidence problem or something. That's pretty amazing he basically had a redshirt year.

He will already be 25 this April. He needs to get going this year.
