Are you sure he isn't your client? Maybe you should send him a letter making it clearer. Also, what are you doing about file retention. Better print this out and keep it for 10 years or so.

Is it stealing if you buy something at a store on a discount and then return it without the receipt knowing they give you a store credit for the full price of the item?

Look man, it is fraud. They don't have to have "terms and conditions" that spell every little detail out. If it says "refer a friend" and you are referring yourself, that's fraud. It's a lie that you are using to profit from at their behalf.
That being said, it's likely that you will show up on someones radar if you get, you know, $1,000 or more credits. If you were to use it to get an extra $20 - $40, probably not.

I'd call it fraud instead of stealing. You are misrepresenting what you are returning at the expense of the company. The same goes for people who have had an item for a year and it breaks, then they buy a new one and return the old one so that they have a current receipt that will be accepted.

Reminds me of buying the $1 coins from the government using frequent flyer cards. Go for it.

Only with people who aren't clients. You'd be surprised how often the "I thought he was my lawyer" crap comes down. I've seen people burned bad on it.

Why be a jerk about this? If you send us an invite or whatever, you will get credit and we will visit and spend our free money! That is exactly Wtf they did this for.
You have to realize the BIG cost in ecommerce is how much it costs to get a new customer to the site. It is THE cost most watched for a website business.
Out all the peeps on td as your friends and let us get a deal.
Why be THAT guy who would rather steal than do it legit?

I'm not sure if you are trolling or just dumb, because that is completely false.
