Today Air France announces new daily service to New Orleans Moisant International Airport utilizing 777-200ER equipment. Air France, a member of Skyteam, will be the only European airline to serve New Orleans. The city of New Orleans, a unique city with important connections to France and French culture, has shown tremendous growth over the past several years. Located at the mouth of the Mississippi River, New Orleans is an important business location for the transportation industry, as well as the telecommunications and technology sector.

"Air France has long desired a route to New Orleans because of its historical and economic links to the nation of France," said Air France Chairman Jean-Cyril Spinetta. "The fact that the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce was able to offer the airline numerous incentives for beginning this flight only made it that much more of a possibility." "Delta was very successful in its one stop flight from New Orleans to Paris before the attacks of September 11, and they were a major force behind our goal of linking two centers of French culture," said Christopher Korenke, vice president and general manager of Air France USA.
