Yeah they are crazy. You have to go like 55+ from what I remember to barefoot. At those higher speeds they may wear booties but I do remember them saying they did not really enjoy skiing that fast bc the fall hurts a lot.

They have a very nice boat.

Falling at 30 hurts really bad.

I imagine wiping out at 135 would be about like falling out of an airplane onto concrete.

You don't need to go anywhere near 55 to barefoot. 35 is plenty fast enough. Above 50 and you need foot protection or you risk harm to your feet from friction burns and debris.

I weigh 200 and can barefoot at 40 mph.

They even have it on ESPN sometimes in the summer when it is slow. It is called something like Powerboat skiing. The race i saw they start in Miami race around one of the keys and back.
