The idea is that they become more agile and quick off the ball and consequently are better able to penetrate into the backfield or pursue a ball carrier near the line of scrimmage.
That's what Grimes said he wanted on the OL as well....

Herron used to be a DE prospect at 240lbs. I think 50-60 lbs was too much weight gain. He can be a muscular 270 lbs and still play week side in 3-4 or strong side in a 4-3.
