OT Workout Crew: Donkey Calf Raises

Been getting into Kai Greene lately and found his workout routine. He includes these in his calf exercises. My gym doesn't have a machine specifically for this, but I'm thinking bending over under a smith machine bar and resting it with a cushion in my lower back could simulate it well. Does this sound right? Any better ideas? Anyone incorporate this into their routines already? TIA.

Donkey calf raises aren't going to make or break your calf development. If your gym doesn't have the machine, just do something else.

Bend over and get your boyfriend to sit on your hips/lower back.

Make two stacks of three 35 or 45 lbs plates under the bar in the smith machine. Position to them where your heals touch the ground on the negative portion of the raise. Tremendous range of motion.
It's better if your gym has the plates with the polyurethane coating. They don't slide. The metal plates will slide a bit, but not enough to put you at serious risk.

I remember back in the day the meatheads in my gym would do this. Looks freaking retarded and gay as f***. I'm sure it helped them get 'swole for the spring ladies tho'.

One day it'll get to the point where only a number of ppl remember that thread . Me and the ole lady are fine, never better actually.
