In the officer-involved shooting, police were assisting state Department of Public Safety officers during a pursuit when the shooting occurred at about 11 p.m. in the Acadian Village shopping center, said Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., a Baton Rouge police spokesman.
The vehicle being pursued, a 2006 Mercedes E350, “refused to stop for traffic violations,” which initiated the chase, Coppola said.
The location where the chase began with DPS wasn’t revealed Tuesday morning.
During the chase, the Mercedes attempted to run over some officers, Coppola said. Officers then fired multiple shots at the Mercedes, striking both the driver and the passenger.
None of the officers involved in the shooting were injured. Police have not identified the two men, 24 and 27 years old, who were wounded.
The shooting occurred in a narrow section of the shopping center’s parking lot in front of Kean’s Fine Dry Cleaning, a yoga studio and Pei Wei Asian Diner.
The chase came to an end when the Mercedes crashed into some metal railings separating the shopping center’s parking lot from a hill that leads down to Acadian Thruway. Damage could be seen Tuesday morning on the railing and on a light post in the parking lot.
A cleaning crew on Tuesday swept up glass and other debris scattered across the parking lot in the aftermath of the shooting.
The Baton Rouge police officers involved in the shooting were placed on paid administrative leave pending further investigation, as is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings.
No other details were immediately available Tuesday morning

Is this really relevant? You used a popular intersection a year ago?

I feel better now. They chased these people and that shopping center is just where it ended.

Saw all of this on the way home from the Varsity. I thought it was either the biggest roadblock ever. There had to be 30 cop cars out there.

I was videoing the police going around the Trader Joes parking lot and got the shots fired on video but doesn't look like you can upload videos on here.

I never understand why police get out on foot and approach some dude in a 3,000 pound car who has made it apparent he doesn't want to give up. Stay back until he gets out of the car.
Don't know about this particular event, but there some videos out there of similar situations and usually it involves the person slowing/stopping the car as if he's giving up, then when the cops start getting out of their cars to approach the vehicle and drag the person out or cuff him is when he floors it again.
