Sorry to offend you about my shaving choices.
You actually never spoke of your shaving choices. You simply claimed that two razor brands were guaranteed to irritate your face. I didn't have such an experience with either brand. Care to elaborate on your OP?

Gillette pivot plus are the best, just get them on amazon

The hell if I remember given it's been 1-2 years. Both had to do with shaving 2-3 times a week and I obviously go for the short-term plan when experimenting with something like this.

I mentioned what I use on the first page, Harry.

Double edge razor. You can buy 100 of the sharpest blades for $30. You only need one blade. The multiple blade stuff is all marketing.
The initial investment is the razor and the brush. The shaving creams last way longer. I buy a tube once a year. I like to have a couple different types to mix it up.
There are multiple threads on DE shaving if you search.

I would like to try this, but can I shave in the shower with it?
Yes. But need a very grippy razor handle. Remember your wiener is in there too. Need a mirror too. And a brush that won't break. And a rubber mug.
To your OP. I bought DSC. they were just ok. The 6-blade was too much. When you drop to 4, their blades quality drops.
My new favorite when not DE shaving is the Schick Hydro. They are cheaper. But only 3-5 bucks cheaper per large pack.

I do everyday. I used to get in grown hairs bad and tried everything. Haven't had one since I switched. You can get a good razor blades and soap for about 50 bucks. That'll last close to 6 months if you shave everyday. Try Featherlite blades I think they are the best. Brush and shave soap is a personal choice. It takes a few extra minutes in the mornings but so worth it.

If OP wants to go DE I can talk ad nauseum about it. As can many on here.

I even got my wife hooked on a DE.

Agree. I switched 6 years ago because of razor burn and ingrown hairs. I've yet to have either since the switch. I also use feather blades and have found these to be the best.
If you shave everyday you can do it quickly in one pass and get a great shave. I don't shave in the shower.

In my experience, correct. You get what you pay for, despite the clever marketing.
And yet you use a Fusion Proglide.
Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference when I switched between these razors.

I shave three times per week with a plain Gillette double blade disposable and can use one for more than a month without much irritation and the shave is smooth. What am I doing wrong that I don't need a better blade?

Ok I want to try the DE razors. Someone point me in the right direction. (Website)(razors)(shave cream or oil)(brush, cup) and whatever else I would need in my situation.
I have a very sensitive neck. I have thick dark whiskers. I only shave about 3 times a week because of the razor burn.
And I only shave in the shower. I've got a nice big shower with plenty of room and it is much more convenient for me.

It's silly to get advice when all beards are different. I did DSC, but went back to Gillette Fusion. I have a fairly thick beard. About an 8 on a 1-10 scale.
Give them all a shot. You're not obligated, so opting out is easy.
