Why was this ever a discussion?

No one doubts Les's recruiting chops. What is called into question, however, is his ability to develop talent.
Given the small timeframe the starters from '07 would have actually spent being coached by Saban or his assistants, the influence that they would have had on those players is tenuous at best.

Thus, although they were "Saban's recruits," they were without a doubt "Les's players."

Nobody ever wants to admit this. That 2007 team was all Miles. They were developed by him and played the brand of football he wants to play.

They were all absolutely Les' players from a development and coaching standpoint.. considering Saban bolted after 2004. Miles also had a number of his soph, and juniors starting in 2007.. mostly on the line, even over the seniors. Chad Jones was even in the dime as a freshman. (Just wanted to throw a CJ shout out..)

All of the beastly rb's aside from Hester that year were his recruits. Keiland, Scott, Murphy, and even Trindon.. All these guys could handle the starting role.

Perrilloux was very instrumental in getting us there as well. So even if you took off the out of state recruit pulls such as Flynn, LSU would still be in prime shape (Perrilloux was SEC MVP vs a JOHN CHAVIS SEC D!), and I still believe the Louisiana guys were coming to LSU. But again, these were Les' guys as he had them all pretty much from day 1.

Miles' strength was the offensive line. He was absolutely outstanding in this department.. and he had his players absolutely FIRED up to play for him. As he should. They had his back. He earned it, along with the team. Period.

If player was Fr. In 2004, then saban recruit.

Not all were still around for that 2007 season though. But a good suggestion.

As evidenced by the massive exodus of underclassmen to the NFL right?
