I am very glad I wasnt a teenager or young adult in the 80's, definitley the worst decade ever for music.

Yup. All that synthesizer keyboard based syntho pop crap. Then there were the hair bands. 70's was a great run. Led Zeppelin, Stones at their peak, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, some great prog rock, and a bunch of great metal bands like Sabbath and Priest. That didn't happen in the 80's although I am sure someone will scream Michael Jackson or Prince.

Nirvana was liberation.

The '80s hairbands sucked but they didn't suck because of the hair or the makeup or the spandex, they sucked because of the music. Nirvana was Cinderella with a haircut and a flannel shirt. The same bland and generic crap but at least the hairstars knew they sucked.
