Right I should have specified. Go to Stubbs for a show.
I am dead serious about Jack Allens Kitchen though. One of my favorite restaurants.

You know, in almost 9 years in this city, I've never been there. I guess I'm missing out?

So, the only things people recommend to do in austin are to drink and kayak on Lady Bird lake?
maybe you should suggest something then

Yea man. Just go read the reviews. Everything is great there. I highly recommend

I've always heard good things about it, I'm not sure why it's never been on my radar. Jack and his son Bryce (who is also a chef and proprieter of Barley Swine and Odd Duck) teamed up at the Food & Wine Festival last year and I tasted some of their fare...it was great. I'll check it out.

I rode a bike around a bit when I visited around 2 months ago. It was a bit chilly though. Almost got clipped by a F250 with a longhorn sticker. Lady Bird lake really is a gem though. I didn't get into Barton Springs but I did take a gander at it. Pretty cool setup for being in the middle of the city. Hopefully those things don't dry up. We had business to take care of in RR so I got to experience i-35 traffic.

Mexican: Curra's on Oltorf
Indian Food/ Craft Beer/ Wine/ Live Music: Whip In
Tacos: Torchy's, Mellizozs, Veracruz All Naturale (my favorite...several locations in food trucks).
Gormet Donuts: Gourdoughs...they have a trailer next to Mellizos Tacos on S. 1st.
Must Eat at East Side King...great food at cheap price...several locations usually a food truck located in the outside area of a bar. I like the one at Liberty on E. 6th. LINK
Live Music: Continental Club on S. Congress or Saxon Pub on S. lamar.
Beer/ good food/ pastries: East Tiger on 6th just west of I-35.
Best chill place if the weather is good: Jester King Brewery about 20 minutes southwest of Austin. Its a hill country ranch/ brewery with the most obscure beer list (theirs and a bunch of other breweries). Good pizza place out there so sit and look at the scenery and drink great beer.

I don't live in the city but I like to go there often. I just found it and will go every time I'm there from here on out.

I'm not as high on jack Allens, honestly. I'll say that I never had a bad meal there, but I've never been blown away either. It's consistently good, but not great imo.
But I have friends that absolutely love it and would say that it's one of the better places to eat in the area. Brunch is really popular there as well. So, yeah, I'd suggest trying it out to see for yourself.

It's definitely not fine dining, but everything they do is done very well. And I really dig that type of food which is why I'm so high on it. It's a cool place w a good vibe as well.

Go to the Broken Spoke on South Lamar. Maybe you'll run across Willie.
