Just finished it. Smashed through the last 7 episodes in 1 night
I'll say it again...frick Claire fricking underwood. She is so delusional about her damn importance that's she's willing to destroy everything so that the world can tell her she can do politics on her own. fricking idiot
Overall I loved the character development throughout the season. Doug's profile this year was just off the charts, he acted his arse off.
Some of the best moments of the show came from this season IMO I was literally busting out laughing at 2 in the morning when he told Dunbar to go frick her self
And I was jumping with joy when Frank finally got to brass tax and told Claire how it really is...and then she ruined it in the next scene by leaving.
There's so much more to this season but I can't get over how much of a royal jackass Claire was this season. Ahhh she might be worse than Jenny from Forrest Gump on my fictional hatred scale...scratch that she is definitely above that level already
I think what a lot of you don't like about the season is the change in Franks overall character. He's got a lot more scenes where he's playing nice and a hell of a lot more scenes where he's playing catchup or is in desperation mode which he never is in S1 and only briefly in S2....but I think that was nessasary with his presidency. You have to be much more reserved as the president and when it comes to the characters in the show already, he probably had more control as Whip than he does as president
Here's to the rewatch in the near future

Finished today
I was under the impression this whole time that this was the last season so I was confused af when I finished.
But I agree with what most have said in this thread. Felt underwhelmed. What spread out over 13 hours could've easily been accomplished in 3 or so episodes

DMATB bold series finale prediction -
Frank is assassinated
Frank is assassinated

I dont see why all the hate for Doug. They did spend a ton of time on him, but for some odd arse reason, I find him interesting. They could have cut it down considerably. But I still like the guy and was happy he wasnt dead. Who could question his loyalty to Frank. The devious way he gets things done. He can be weak, yet he carries a big stick around Washington.

The hatred is that they spent so much time with Doug doing NOTHING. Starring at a computer screen. Hanging out at a meeting, watching paint dry, listening to crickets.
I do think some of the hate is misplaced. The whole shebang was poorly written this season.

That's not really bold.
That would be the lamest ending they could do

Overall, my favorite character from this season was Viktor Petrov. Did everyone know that these two people are brothers?

is seriously the first thing I thought of.

I know Frank is the president and all but how did he get Freddie a job at the White House with a criminal record. If I remember right, didn't he kill someone? How can they have someone that killed someone just laughing it up with the president right outside of the oval office.

Yeah that didn't make much sense
They should have just ended it with Freddie waiting in line to get a job

Just scanned the thread. Pretty much agree with all of it.
Frank's whole character of being a badass was being able to take obstacles, confront them cool and quietly in front of other people, and then come up with an insidious plan to take them down. This season he was confrontational and loud.
I guess one could argue it was the office of the presidency, was just too much to handle sometimes, resistance in every direction.
From a non-story line standpoint I hate that he didn't break the 4th wall as much as he used to. It was a great part of season 1, talking to the audience so we could see his thoughts and his plans. Didn't happen. Instead all we got was the more confrontational Frank.
