They question was would you call the cops and would you be outraged if the cops DID come and question them.
So you would not call the cops if a group of suspicious individuals walked around your neighborhood carrying rifles?

No.
There is already a group of suspicious individuals that drive around my neighborhood carrying weapons and I don't call the cops on them.

Do you think your neighbors would? Would you fault them for calling the cops? Would you fault the cops for stopping the suspicious people and questioning them?

I don't know. I don't talk to my neighbors much. Maybe they would. How would I know?

And so, clearly, should these suspicious characters break into your house and kill you're family, you would not place an ounce of blame on the ineptness of the cops for not questioning these guys after receiving plenty of phone calls about suspicious persons walking around a neighborhood with rifles.

So are you just anti-cop in general?
quote:There are many but I guess the main one is their enforcement of laws I don't agree with.
What is your reasoning?

We don't need them?

Jones v. Clark
No. 09-3574 (7th Cir. 2011)
"...An officer is not entitled to qualified immunity when they detain an individual and can't point to a single circumstance that could have led them to believe an individual was engaged in criminal activity, nor that any federal or state law can justify the stop or support the view that the individual was committing a crime....
You don't know what you're talking about...

If politicians weren't so worried about being reelected, they could finally update the most outdated amendment in the constitution.
Updates should be
1. Cannot carry a rifle in public or any firearm that has a greater barrel length of a handgun. Would have to establish a standard length.
2. Can store firearms in your home that are in accordance with firearm laws today. (For the hunting crowd)
3. Can carry a concealed handgun or open carry but must submit to an ID/ license check at anytime.

Well there is no use having a conversation about this then, considering that you can't even support our democratic process.
I wish there were a country I could tell you to move to, but I don't know of any where the cops ignore the law of the land and only enforce the laws that you personally agree with.

I don't think the cops should detain people just because they look scary to me. Freedom is more important than my feelings and fears.
The cops could just OBSERVE citizens that people are scared of. They could have followed the guy in the kilt without infringing upon his freedoms.

That seems downright reasonable ... it'll never happen.

Follow him for how long? All day?
The reason I don't have a problem with cops questioning and IDing someone in this situation is that if the person has a legitimate and legal reason to be carrying the rifle, it will take about a minute to answer some questions, cooperate, and be on your way.

I bet you believe cops get killed every single day in this country by some gun toting redneck maniac. It just doesn't happen that way
Thats exactly what happened to two cops in vegas a couple of months ago. Your description exactly. Redneck and all.... While they were eating lunch at cici's pizza.
Shot in the back of the head in cold blood

So it's legal to carry a rifle ... but not really since you should have someone who is also carrying a weapon threaten you and ask you questions.

What the man with the rifle was doing was perfectly legal.
Other than desturbing the peace, which technically gives the officer full right to stop and search and detain.
All the guy had to do was say who he was

If I am truly a law abiding person, and someone calls the cops on me, I would much rather they stop me, clear the situation, and let me go, rather than awkwardly follow me around town all day.
Would the gun nuts really be ok with a cop following you around all day. You would not find that to be an invasion of your privacy?
