If they are true foodies, I think August is the answer for them. The combination of service, atmosphere and food/wine will impress them.

I am a HUGE Commander's fan but I have been going my whole life and think that influences my feeling on it. The times I have taken Foodie friends they were put off by the size of the place.

As far as Square Root, I agree with the above poster. I was unimpressed to say the least. Not in a snobby way, I just didn't like what I was served.

August is some very, very good chow. Enough so that I tried to take some decidedly non-foodie friends and it confused them. They still talk about it and that was over a year ago.
