So what about the free throw example? Do you ALWAYS TRY TO MAKE YOUR FREE THROWS, or do you situationally adjust when there is 1 second on the clock and you are down by 2, so you know that making it will only cause you to lose the game with certainty? Ever hear of losing a battle but winning a war?
Strategically missing a shot to put yourself in a position to win is the same as strategically missing all your shots so you lose? Is this what you're saying?

Perhaps, but there are other scenarios. (And really, who cares what you LOOK like? Is that the lesson you want for your kids...that it's a style contest?).
So in your real world, how others perceive you is not important? I think a recruiter would be interested to know that a potential recruit chose this loser's strategy because they didn't think they could beat another team. I assume your opinion is a team should be loaded with people like this.

Someone else mentioned the scenario whereby a different team manages to pull the upset on Blackman, thus leaving a potentially substantially weaker opponent in the final.
And the attitude that your team absolutely could not be that team shows a loser's attitude, and low character.

Ignorance of what?
For you, mostly everything apparently. For these girls, the bigger picture.
quote:
The world sure seems very black and white to you. Good to know you have it figured out...and on the side that is DEFINITELY RIGHT...right?
This situation is black and white, and the side that I am on in this case is DEFINITELY the right one.
But hey, maybe you should ask the coaches who will probably be fired, or the schools who are out $1,500, or the girls who won't even get the chance to lose to that better team. They live in the real world, where their actions had terrible consequences, based a lot on the perception they created for themselves and their school. Perhaps they would accept an invite to your real world where a shitty attitude yields you at best second place.

I'm saying that it's clearly a spectrum and not an actual principle (as I assume you would happily miss the FT).

My opinion is I play my game however I see fit and then let the results speak for themselves.

No, it shows realism.

The bigger picture is getting into the easier side of the bracket and finishing higher.

Nah. U just mad because not everyone sees it like you do.

Pussification of America. I'm highly aware of it.

So your saying the loser of this game would have no chance to win the title?
