I think there's a few people on here who can give better suggestions for nh/maine, but i went up to the moosehead lake region in maine (past bangor) and had a great time fishing, hiking, seeing wild moose
. New hampshire is nice as well and if you're gonna have to drive from boston over to cuse anyway, you mght as well spend some time there and in vermont. Vermont's one of my favorite places, beautiful area with plenty to do near Burlington

Going to a wedding the weekend before in Boston Area. Was thinking about tooling around NH and Maine any suggestions?
Allow me to parachute in …
Portsmouth, NH and Portland, Maine are within driving distance of Boston, and both are worth it in my humble opinion. Portland is a big-time foodie town, if that's something that appeals to you. NH has a short, but beautiful, coastline — perfect to see by car and your journey will end in Portsmouth, where there are plenty of bars and a decent downtown area that's reminiscent of a college town.
I would also point you in the opposite direction and consider Newport, R.I. It's by far my favorite day trip from Boston. The Cliff Walk is spectacular.
