These golf threads just won't stop.

It can be done.
A pool builder.
A pool builder.

you mean I need to buy a kit and have a "builder" assemble it?

For 30k you should easily be able to find a builder to dig a gunite one.

what about a fence around it. is that mandatory or b.s.?

This is an insurance thing I believe. Wood fence is roughly $12-18/foot. Cheaper doing it yourself.
Will probably be a different contractor installing it.

I mean, are you planning to dig, rig the cage, plumb, do the gunite, and finish it by yourself? If so, then you will need a Bobcat, adequate amounts of rebar, plumbing materials, and a handful of Mexicans.

Sure it can be done. I put in mine for ablut that. 18X36 liner with a lot of custom add on's include a baja ledge and a hot tub overflowing into the pool.
That said I did a lot work on it myself as well. But depending on what you want and are willing to accept to stay in budget you certainly can.

You will need a fence, I had to put one up recently around mine.

I've been pricing gunite and the cheapest I have found so far is 42k from a pool dealer in acadiana. however, they say that I can put a liner pool in for 28k. I really don't want a liner but I refuse to exceed 30k. not sure what the hell to do.

no. i'm looking for "turnkey". including the cement work too.

I didn't want a liner either. However I have been very very pleased. It was a good decision.

You should definitely be able to do it, as long as you're not wanting a massive, intricately designed, pool.

I'm thinking it would mess with your swing. Once you got out the water you'd swing way harder than needed in the green.

Have you thought about scaling down the size?
Not everyone can afford a mansion.

I don't need add on's really. i'm just looking for a 16x30 with an 8 foot slab around it for less than 30k installed.

Don't put a pool in unless you absolutely have to
Posted on 2/22/15 at 7:56 am to oldcharlie8
30k should get you a pretty basic pool.
