Kayak Hatch Sealing Question

I got an Asend 128T and my research has told me I need to reseal all scupper seams and hatches.
I figured marine grade silicon was fine. After research folks are 50/50 on silicon at all. Some folks say never use it. Use 4200 or 5200 (Ik not even exactly sure what either is).
My question for the OB is what kind of sealant you would use on a kayak for saltwater use?

If you go with 3M 5200, remember that whatever you use it on will probably stick there permanently. I've seen decking have to be cut out of boat sterns where the owners used 5200 under their fighting chair mounts. The bolts came out fine, but the base was bonded to the deck with the 5200.

correct
never use 5200 unless you want to get the sawzall out
4200 is removable

I don't think it important to seal them. No, they aren't water tight. But they aren't going to let much water in if any. I never had problems with water coming in the hull of my ascend. Just go put your boat in the water and enjoy it.
