Celtic vs. Inter Milan Was Amazing

Celtic vs. Inter was insane. 6 goals, 90 minutes, 60,000+ fans, and a last minute goal to tie things up at 3-3. Best game today, although Athletico's was good too.

That was a good game. I toggled back and forth between Celtic, Kopites, and Tottenham so I missed a few of the key goals. That 2nd goal you guys scored was pretty impressive though, even if it was just a hail mary type thing

It's really Athletic Club. Commonly known as Athletic Bilbao or Athletic, but as long as we're being formal.

when speaking, just about everyone ignores inclusion of the word club....

Third goal was incredibly cool. Strange thing is, Inter's goals were all pretty lucky--mostly poor keeping.

The name of the club is already in English. It makes no sense to call it Athletic de Bilbao; that's not the name of the club. You might see or hear that in like conversation in Madrid or something but that's basically converting it to their language, which granted, isn't an uncommon thing to do in a lot of languages.
And I realize this is a dumb point to belabor but the thing is, the name of the club is political in a sense. The second Franco died, they changed the name back to the English. They don't speak traditional Castilian Spanish there, and they don't call their club Athletic de Bilbao. It's not even really about that in this case though, as again, the name of the club is English, so in the spirit of adapting club names to the language we're speaking, let's just leave it in English, shall we?
And I'm a Barca fan, I watch predominantly La Liga. That is not what people who cover La Liga call it. Athletic Club. Athletic Bilbao. Athletic. All are fine. All commonly used.

Everyone says Athletic de Bilbao, so as to avoid the interlocutor thinking the speaker is referring to Atlético de Madrid (Atleti), as it sounds very, very similar.
I call them Athletic de Bilbao. Athletic alone, means nothing to me.
They don´t speak Spanish, do they?

Yeah, we're not speaking Spanish either. We're speaking English, which fortunately for us in this case, is already the language of the name of the club.

What the frick does any of your verbal diarrhea have to do with the OP erroneously stating ´Athletico´s´?
I corrected him to Athletic de Bilbao, y ya está.
