Feleipe Franks possibly Terrelle Pryor 2.0?

Okay, so I knew Franks was the top dual threat in the country, according to 247, and I've been thinking about this and it has me pretty excited.
Pryor was 6'4, 225 and ran a 4.4 40-yard dash out of high school (He ran a 4.33 his sophomore year at OSU). 247 has Franks listed at 6'5, 220 (I haven't found a 40 time for him, anyone know?). I'm assuming that with him being a dual threat he must have a relatively close 40 time to this.
Pryor may have been an idiot later in his college career and sucks in the NFL, but he was the perfect college quarterback. Is Franks the same type of player? I haven't watched really any film on him, but his frame seems to set him up to possibly be.
Obviously, for him to play like Pryor though he can't be lined up in the I-Formation 50 times a game, though.

Terrelle Pryor was pretty much unanimously considered to be the top overall quarterback in the nation when he came out. Really hard to compare the two unless Franks dominates camps/AA games the way Pryor did.

I don't know what he runs, but it's nowhere close to 4.4. Don't get all caught up in the dual threat listing. He's more pro style. Go watch some highlights, he's nothing like Pryor.

I'm hoping he's more like Marcus Mariota 2.0....

Franks is going to run a 4.8 laser time. He's probably going to end up around 235 by the time he finishes college. His dad is pretty stout.

Franks is a capable runner, but he's going to play from within the pocket the majority of the time.

Franks is comparable to Geno Smith to me. Big and tall, Pretty mobile but not fast. Throwing accuracy sometimes just above average.

True that, I kind of think he was somewhat the "Lebron" of college football when he was high school. Really highly rated. The point I'm kind of trying to make though is a similar build. It sounds to me like he has a similar build, but a better passer, but more limited mobility to Pryor.

I just saw that in his junior season he rushed 28 times for 425 yards (15.2 average). I don't know if that's him playing against scrubs or what. But yeah, those numbers certainly seem more like a guy who can run, but doesn't really want to.

I 100% agree. People get too caught up in what the sites say a QB is. Patterson is more "Dual Threat" than FF is. Also, the Pryor comparison is bad. TP could not throw the football in the ocean. He sucked as a passer. So, we better hope FF is nothing like TP. I think FF is more Roethlisberger then Cam Newton. Big kid who can move, but would rather stand in and throw. He does not run much at all.

I really don't think I would be too upset if an LSU quarterback went 210-323 for 2,772 yards and 27 TD's to only 11 picks (Pryor's 2010 season).

Better version of mettlenberger but better runner

Franks is a solid prospect but he's not even close to the athlete Pryor was.
Exhibit A: Pryor 93 Yd. TD Run
Hopefully he's smarter than Pryor but I don't see Franks outrunning an NFL defense.

That was a typo, my bad. It's fixed.

Pryor was an incredible athlete and was the fasted player at Ohio St. his sophomore season. I'm not expecting that much athleticism out of Franks, but it seems that when he's forced to run he has the ability to possibly make a big play happen, or at least get a first down.

Remember that was in the horrible big 10. Do those numbers and his inability to throw win in the much better/faster SEC? I realize most are numbers whores, but if you watched him in college, you would see where I am coming from. He ran to wins and just threw deep balls on busted plays. **Inside the number** against 4 "decent teams" in the big ten, he threw for 76 yds vs Illinois, 156 yds vs Wiscy, 139 yds vs Penn St, and 195 yds vs Iowa. Yes he had some good games, but most against horrible teams in the Big10. He was exciting, but you would be upset with QB play like this.....sort of what LSU has had.

Franks is more in the mold of Jameis Winston (but more mature). Big, cannon arms, smart, both play pitcher for baseball, both have mobility. Franks probably runs a 4.7 something now. After strength and conditioning, he probably brings that up to a 4.65-68 by the time he would leave LSU. Hell, Manziel ran a 4.68.

Best comparison in the thread. Don't think he's quite the pure passer Winston was yet but he's got a year. Franks, like Winston, is a passer that can run a little not a runner that can pass. Mariota and Pryor both fit the latter. More runners that could pass. True dual threats. Franks and Winston are pocket passers with mobility.Big Ben types.

It sounds more and more like this guy has the same mobility skills at Matt Mauck.

I don't need any more multimillion dollar arms with nickel heads.
I'd prefer a $750k arm and a million dollar head - we can win games with that.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Franks can do. He seems like a good kid.
I'm concerned about the amount of loft he puts on his throws, though. It looks like he's going to have interception trouble once he starts playing SEC secondaries.
