Mobile Alabama/ Gulf Coast

Hey guys, I figured I would post this here and maybe get some real input from people who have been.
For my job, they are requiring me to move to the Gulf Coast. This job requires a lot of travel so where I live is basically up to me. They said they wanted me somewhere between Biloxi and Pensacola.
Not I have never been to this area besides going to Pensacola for a family vacation when I was in middle school. I was wondering if anyone here could give me some suggestions on where would be a good spot for me.
I am a young professional so I would prefer to be around other young professionals and a nightlife. Traveling most of Mississippi, Alabama, and the panhandle of Florida with some south Georgia on occasion.
I know a lot of people have said Mobile but I was wondering where I should be looking for apartments, or if there is another area around there that would be worth looking into. Is Biloxi a decent town for young people?
My fear is I end up living in an apartment complex either full of families or old retired people.
Thanks in advance for the help!

I suggest selling your family for drugs.

Mobile has a pretty decent night scene downtown. If you are a young professional looking for an apartment De Iberville apartments on Springhill avenue would maybe be a good fit. LINK Mostly young professionals, newly weds, or medical school students with some retirees thrown in. Its close to downtown as well. I lived there after college and my wife and I lived there for about a year after we were married.

All terrible options. Somewhere around Mobile I guess though.

Prolly Mobile or Spanish Fort/Daphne

Rent a house in midtown, imo. Baldwin county (daphne, fairhope, Spanish fort) is nice, but is absolutely geared more for families. Come down for a weekend and check out the area. It might be worth the hour drive to Pensacola to get a feel for it as well. Downtown p'cola has been updated a lot lately and is a blast, but I have no clue on housing there

What kind of position is this?

Biloxi will suck for a young person unless you are really into casinos. Downtown Pensacola may be a pleasant surprise but Mobile will definitely have the most options for you. Downtown Mobile is having a mini Renaissance. Nice bar district now and art community. You get pretty good music at Soul Kitchen, Alchemy Tavern, O'Daly's and some other spots. The Saenger theater gets some national tours. Mobile is centrally located for the region as well if you are travelling. I would recommend looking at Mobile first.

I moved down to Ocean Springs, MS and love it. Mobile sucks arse, ocean springs has everything you would want

Gulf Breeze, FL is a great spot, lived there for 3 years.

Biloxi/Gulfport are full of old retirees
Mobile is OK but Pensacola IMO is your best bet

IMO, the gulfcoast nightlife is weak. I personally don't like Mobile at all. Sorta like Pensacola and that would be my first choice.
Having said that, I do really like Orange Beach during the summer. From spring break to labor day it is fun. Totally dead in the winter, but spring and summer is fun. Not many places to go, but doesn't matter. Every few days brings a new group of people and girls to play with.
Basically, I have lived there year round before, renting a condo for 3 months at the time in OB or GS. We would always stay in OB and Gulf Shores during the summer and have fun (even though it was the same places over and over, new people every weekend). During the winter though I would drive 45 minutes to go out in Pcola or 3 hours to go out in NOLA practically every weekend. Would end up getting a hotel a lot at 4-5am to avoid the drunk driving risk.

I had basically the same territory when I was around 24 back in '07 and lived in downtown Mobile on Dauphin St. Awesome 2br/2ba with balcony and my own garage above a law office for $1,000 per month. Mobile downtown was going through a resurgence then and is probably even better now. I could walk to plenty of bars and restaurants. Dauphin St Beerfest
Irvin Grodsky is the lawyer that owns the building. Google him and give him a call to see if has any availability. It was 2 units that he rented out.

My order of preference
Ocean Springs
Baldwin county (spanish fort/fairhope/daphne in that order..assuming you can't afford gulf shores)
Pensacola area
Mobile
Dowtown mobile is right by the bayway, so if you live in spanish fort you're closer to downtown mobile than 3/4 of mobile residents.
Good nightlife in all of those places. Mobile, Pensacola, Ocean Springs, Baldwin county respectively is how the nightlife scene looks. OS is like a mini pensacola nightlife. Mobile like a mini New Orleans nightlife. Seville quarter in Pensacola is a good time. Mobile probably offers the cheapest cost of living, but I lived in a one bedroom apt on the bay in daphne for $650 a month

Gulf Breeze is a great area to live. Some of the best schools. Minutes to beach.

Best options (I'm from Baldwin County)
Gulf Shores/Orange Beach/Perdido Key All pretty much the same
Fairhope
Spanish Fort

Hands down Fairhope. Best little town village there is. A honeypot. I will move back there when I can. The safest city in the south. You can always go to mobile or Pcola if you want to get out. Do it.
