I think it works better than you think. Most breweries in Portland have chalk boards, but their beer lists are more stable. The taprooms have such a high turnover, that it makes more sense for them - especially if they have more than 10 taps.

The monitors are tied to their POS system and to the website. When they change out a keg, they click the button next to the new keg, and the POS, the monitors in the bar, and the online taplist are all updated. Pretty cool. The POS also recalculates the cost if you want, say a 5 oz. pour, instead of a pint. The POS also keeps track of how much of each beer is sold and that is how they calculate how much beer is in the kegs (not 100% accurate, but pretty good).

Are they weighing the kegs or counting the pours? If counting the pours how do they account for pours with too much foam etc?
