Woodson and Lott were the best ever in the defensive backfield.

How did LT "revolutionize" football when Rickey Jackson came out the exact same year and Andre Tippett came out one year later and they did the exact same thing that LT did?

He broke Theisman's leg and caused offenses to start paying attention to the left tackle position.

Best defensive player in NFL history is Dick Butkus.

LT is in the convo, with Reggie White and Ronnie Lott.

Ask this question in 15-20 years and the answer JJ Watt will come up frequently. I was born in 1989, started watching football in the early 1990s, and quite frankly, he's the best I've seen. What's really impressive is this is an offense friendly (to put it kindly) era and Watt still just turned in one of the best defensive seasons ever.

Ricky Jackson (personal Bias)

Obviously a healthy amount of personal bias, but my old man used to say that Jackson was better at all other aspects of being a linebacker other than rushing the passer than LT. He wasn't a better player because LT revolutionized the game from a pass rushing stand point, but he was a better rounded linebacker.

I think he also said that he thought Ronnie Lott was the best defensive player in league history, or maybe it was just defensive back. As for me, I don't really know.

Ray Lewis is pretty easily in the conversation for best MLB of all time, and he maybe runs away with it. That year and a few years around it when they won the superbowl in the early 00's Ray seemed like he knew where the play was going before the offense did pretty regularly. It was insane how fast he got to the ball.

Ray Lewis's strip/TD against Eddie George in the 2000 playoffs was one of the best plays I've ever seen. He owned the middle of the field every time he stepped on it.

Yes, he's the best ever. Taylor's the only player to win 3 NFL DPOY awards. He's the only player to win DPOY as a rookie. He's one of only two defensive players to win NFL MVP. He was the best player and catalyst on two Super Bowl winning teams. LT really has the perfect resume. He has to be #1 followed by Reggie White and then Ray Lewis.

Bruce Smith for a while could have been considered. Very underrated when talking about all time greats
