There are unethical people in every business. Hopefully kids learn to sniff it out. I agree. However, the question was whether it's unethical. I've worked in sales for a long time. Some sales people are ethical and some aren't. I can't imagine it's any different.

Truth be told, I think you can run a successful program by being ethical. Straight shooting can vet out the drama queens and people who appreciate that will gravitate towards your program.

It's not going to happen. Recruiting is a cutthroat job. There's a reason some guys excel at it and others don't.

And it's rinse and repeat the next year. It's not like building repeat business most of the time. And winning and success trump all and makes you forget about all the dirty things required to win championships.

Charlie Strong is going to test your theory. And I think you can make a case that the Mack Brown nice guy thing doesn't really work anymore. Hoke was a dumb, likeable guy that recruited pretty well, I guess. But not necessarily ethical.
