He made them pass on either 2nd or third down. To me, that's a win for the patriots.
It's a huge gamble. Statistically, he should have burnt the TO immediately. But they had 3 wides on the field, why give them a break?

Definitely was an interesting decision...I thought he should have called the timeout, but I can certainly see Belichick being savvy enough to think it was the right coaching move at the time. Regardless of what he chose, the Pats were in a pretty low win probability situation. A goal line stand vs. trying to get chunks of yards vs the Seattle defense to attempt a long FG at minimum.
