It is a myth that Marilyn Monroe, for example, was a BBW. She would put the land whales that roam our day and age to shame. And to some of the guys in here falling for the propaganda by thinking it's attractive.

The trends have quickened as industrialization and technology have advanced. I don't know whether to decry this, or not.
Certainly Egypt and ancient China will have different ideals, partly based on locale and climate. But we go from thousands of years in a span, to hundreds, now to decades.
I think the "Golden Age of Hollywood" example girl is a bit too heavy. Certainly they weren't all built like her, and even Marilyn Monroe was not this big.
