I take a sleep aid every night to shut off my brain. The generic sleep aid which is really just repackaged anti-histamine works well for me. I get groggy and sleepy within 30 minutes of taking it and it allows me to fall asleep each night.

If I don't take it I'm up all night and have insomnia.

Ha. I can fall asleep on concrete in 10 minutes if I'm tired enough.

Usually takes me about 5-10 minutes to fall asleep in bed if I'm exhausted.

I woke up about 745 this morning. Took another nap around noon till about 330. But alas, here I am...but I'm on nights, so I have to stay up. I'll be home for about 530 am and will be asleep by 6.

To add, I probably don't get the sleep I need. I rarely get any REM sleep. I have apnea. Was actually told when I did the sleep study, I had one of the worst cases he's ever seen for someone my age.

Since then though, I've repaired a deviated septum, tonsils removed, uvula removed, and tissue out of my throat removed. It's better, but not as bad as it used to be.

I try to find something to do..but, at times at 5am on a Tuesday there aren't too many worthwhile options.

My old night time remedy was three ambien, seven xanax and two clonidine.

Ambien didn't work for me.
Ambien sucks. When you do finally doze off you get about 7 hours of lackluster sleep and feel groggy the next day. I'd do anything for a klonopin/xanax/valium script

Valium has never worked for me, I can take an enormous dosage and not get the same effect as with alprazolam.

I can get 60 1mg xanax and can go through them all in less than a week if I'm stressed or aggravated. I hate myself for it in the long run, but that's a whole different story.

Seriously wish cannabis was legal.

Klonopin withdrawal is not a good feeling. I can't even find the words to describe that. Be careful with the benzos. Trust

Lexapro, tramadol, vicodin, doxepin. That's usually good for 4 hours a night.

what is happening in your head that prevents you from sleeping? Are you just thinking about something, kind of like over analyzing a situation?Or are you full of energy and aren't tired?

For me I get tired, my eyes get heavy, then I just lay down and go to sleep. shite sometimes I fall asleep sitting up.

My sleep aid is regular exercise, work, my wife's stories, and a glass of Pinot. Sleep like a fricking baby if all four occur in one day.

I usually take melatonin unless I'm drunk.

Idk if it helps tough...I fall asleep quickly but I rarely sleep through the night without waking up once or twice.

Same thing for me. I wake up so much throughout the night.

The minute I turn the lights off my brain wants to party. The fricker just will not shut up and it keeps me up all night with its non-stop stream of gibberish, paranoid fantasies and the other mental toxins it spews out.

Fortunately though, I take a bunch of mind-jelling drugs that seem to pacify it, at least for a few hours.

I second the motion. All this insomnia shite--at least mine--could easily be remedied with a few lung busters of quality cannabis indica before bed.
