re: Who's ready to kneel down, accept U2 as one of the 2-3 best bands of all time?

Was a big U2 fan growing up. One of the top 5 concerts I've ever seen was when I saw them in Houston during the Joshua Tree Tour. I haven't cared for anything they've done after Achtung Baby.

Sorry, never did really care for them and especially their pretentious lead singer, Boner...

Love the rhythm section on Bullet the Blue Sky and All along the Watchtower on rattle and hum.
I Will Follow is probably my favorite.

I like some older U2...anything they've made in the last decade is sanctimonious crap.

Well I give them credit. They knew they had to change sound to stay relevant. Most bands don't and die. That's why jazz is always fresh. Musicians are tied more to a concept and not a band, hence they don't have the trap of trying to keep a band together while the creativity dies

Here's a track listing for every U2 record ever made:
1.) Mediocre guitar riff absolutely completely fricking drenched until it's soaking wet in delay with Bono wailing about something that I'm supposed to think is deep or important on top of it
Really ground breaking, innovative shite, there, let me tell you.
absolutely true!

Yep, 80's U2 was pretty damn good. Lost interest after that.

Just hitting their stride. Achtung, Zooropa, and Pop are as good as anything they've ever made.

Guess it comes down to musical taste. I thought War and The Unforgettable Fire were awesome.

Boy
October
were good albums (not great) and had some great songs interspersed in there.

No arguments here. My point was, I didn't think they fell off until All That You Can't Leave Behind.

I agree. They had some good songs in there but I think they hit their stride with War. The Unforgettable Fire is one of my top 5 albums.

The Unforgettable Fire
is a perfect song. frick the haters. They were a really good band for quite a while, but this bs with their latest album automatically popping on your phone, and the fact they should have given up some time ago, really tarnish their legacy.
