You don't understand what that kid has been through in his life.
A lot of these kids never have a shot in life at all based on their upbringing. Again, it's unfortunate, but they still need to pay for their wrongdoings like anyone else.

Actually they all have a shot, it is if they take. Everyone is given a free education and even someone from a "lower" school district can make something of themselves. Is it harder than someone from a higher system? Yes but they still have a shot and a choice despite what is going on around them.
If they never had a shot we wouldn't hear stories of someone rising through violence, poverty, etc and becoming a success.
