quote:
He faked laughed, then immediately turned his face super serious, and said "you ever make fun of my fashion sense again and I'll strangle you with this very tie." Then he smiled and asked the screw up of the class a Physics-related question like nothing had ever happened
that is awesome. I'm loving all the stories in this thread.

I know that his son is aware of this thread:
I think it's pretty evident that your father had a real impact on many people's lives, and if there is any solace to take away from this, it's that the man you knew as the greatest father, friend, and mentor was considered just that - a father figure, friend, and mentor - to countless people. You and your family are lucky to have been a part of such a rare person's life, and he was lucky to be able to go home after dealing with us all day to the comfort of yall's love.

I remember one time, he fell off of a makeshift skateboard in our classroom. I can't remember what it was doing there, but I'm pretty sure it was around the time we were doing our Rube Goldberg projects. Talk about a sight to see; a 6'10" man falling off of a skateboard in a classroom. I think all of us in his immediate vicinity ran for cover.

I was reading this thread, not knowing who he is and wishing I had met him. Then I realized I had...he officiated a game I was coaching a few years ago. I asked him why he made a specific call.
His response: "I can see the court better from this altitude"
I'm 5'9"
