So I'm sure this is pretty common, but my dad and sister seem to make a bigger deal out of the fact that they are a grandpa and an aunt, rather than the fact that they have a grandson and a nephew. I'm sure they aren't intentional about this, but they have a way of making it seems it's about them instead of the kids. "Look at me, I'm a paw paw". Sort of drives me nuts, but what do I say?

Has this been posted by anyone? Just saw on Reddit. A little throwback to MW2

People are selfish at their core.

My wife's dad has starting doing this. I've actually had to step in before. At my daughter's 3rd bday party he was bugging her for a bite of her marshmallow pop. He made a whole scene crawling on the floor chasing her and trying to bribe her with cash. Finally I picked her up and said there were more marshmallows in the kitchen and to quit annoying my daughter on her bday

Then on Christmas he wanted to read her a book. She picked a book. He says "No, I want to read a different book". Well after a back and forth between the two I said from across the room "Dude...she's 3. Just read the book she wants to read"

And then my sister in law would sometimes have the nerve to tell me what/how I should do things. She hasn't done that since I said (in front of room full of people) "Tell you what...when you have kids then you can tell me what to do with them. Until then, I got this"

Sorry for the MJ rant. But people making it about themselves instead of the kids is something that grinds my gears. I mean...grow the F up

Edit: after reading thru this thread I can see why it's a select group of people posting.

blah blah my kids blah blah my kids. If I wasn't a dad I wouldn't read/post either
