Pipe Tobacco Thread - Pictures, Tips and General Discussion Welcome

It sucks that this hobby is now seen as either trying to be a hipster or associated with pretentiousness.
Seems like a relaxing thing to me and it used to be pretty classy too.
I have a Peterson Aran 87
I have a pipe, but I usually only save it for if I am sitting on the porch listening to music. Definitely not the thing to be bringing out in casual conversation.
Anyone on the OT into pipe tobacco smoking?

I used to be a long time ago when I smoked. Stopped smoking completely in the 1990's. Petersons are great pipes!
Personally I think a pipe is a lot cooler than one of those stupid looking vapor pen things.

I bet the original title of this thread was " Any pipe smokers in here?"
Then you realized what a huge mistake that would be.

haha, id be lying if i said careful consideration didn't go into the thread title. I searched old threads on this topic that are locked and it was one of the first things people pointed out

Don't recall the brand of mine, I had to carve it out of a block of briar wood. It was Polish but other than that I don't remember. I love pipe smoking, super relaxing and with my group of friends it is definitely common. Would like to see it enter the norm again barring the hipsters ruining it for everyone else.

They're not hurting you, so you should mind your own business.
ETA-Never smoked in my life.

Tried it a couple of times. Could never keep the damn thing lit. Few aromas are as awesome as cavendish tobacco.

I just bought some lane Ltd. 1Q which seems to be a universally loved tobacco with a good aroma. Bought a full pound of it for a great deal online.

I'm an every day pipe smoker. I have a 2 Savenelli briars, a few old Dr. Grabows and a few Corn Cobs.
Suprisingly my best smokers are $15 Missouri Meerschaum cobs.
I just ordered a couple of maple pipes to try out last night.

I just got done smoking a bowl of Dunhill Nightcap in my Dunhill bent billiard.
Nothing I enjoy better than a quiet afternoon smoking my pipe and reading a book.

Look up gatlinburlier.com
I prefer Newfound Blend, it's not as aromatic as most, but the lack of sugar lets it burn very cool. Their Vanilla smells fantastic.

When my grandfather died,I inherited his smoking pipes, he farmed his whole life so nothing expensive. I'm always on the lookout in antique shops, I've seen some pretty nice pipes for cheap. Made a great deal a couple years ago on a Nat Sherman Freehand.

GL Pease has some good tobacco.
I usually just smoke a Prince Albert and Cherry Cavendish blend in my pipes.

Somebody give a beginners starting point for smoking a pipe. Couple guys at the camp dabble. Interested in the basics.
