Wish I had said that. Good perspective and good read. Thanks

He's averaging 10.3 wins per season over a decade. Continue to average that and there's a pretty fair chance it will mean playing for a championship or two.

Defense does not win championships. See 1/9 for your proof.
That defense and maybe just a little O could've won it. I swear... that dumb look on Jefferson's face still pisses me off.

Well, someones D definitely won it on 1/9, so your point falls short
They scored 21 points on an NFL caliber defense. Part of the reason was that our offense was so pathetic our defense was on the field too long. Their D was strong, but their offense was adequate against a great D.

1. I believe 3 of the last four NC's were won by
coaches with about 3 years at their school.
(point is its seems rare that 8yr plus
coaches have a history of winning NC's lately).
2. Three of the last four NC teams featured QB's of
large stature--250lbs.
It is true though that the most physical team seems to win the NC. (but we gotta be able to throw some)

The Miles Perspective
Elvis Presley "I did it my way"LINK
"yes there were times I'm sure you knew, I bit off more, more than I could chew. But through it all, there ain't any doubt, I ate it up and spit it out. I faced it all, and I stood tall, and did it my way. The record shows, I took the blows, but did it my way."

CONSERVATIVE/PHYSICAL FOOTBALL is in his blood. This is why he recruits QB's that are runners more times than not. (He inherited them, but Jamarcus Russell (physical) and Matt Flynn (strong runner) exhibited this physicality, and fortunately also the ability to pass). Since then, we know the story, and his proclivity for recruiting physical-Running-capable QB's has nor changed. He needs to get lucky and find another Flynn, who is the best match to his style and championship ball, and so far the over focus on running has not brought such a QB onboard.
Here is were I differ with your thoughts ever so slightly. I believe Miles ideal QB is an Aaron Rodgers type. One that can run his pro style offense and beat you with his arm first, but can also make you pay with his mobility, when the play breaks down.
I just do not think he has hit on that guy in his recruiting other than maybe Perriloux.

You have every right to be a fan and a confident devotee of Coach Miles.
I'm not going to spend more time in this thread arguing with people like you.

If he has been seeking guys like Aaron Rodgers as you suggest, he has really really really bad judgment in his recruiting and selection. Yes, perilous was his one find_gone_wrong, and surely different than Rodgers as QB. Point is, I think he seeks to show the world his current guy(s) can get it done for the next 2 years, and then 2017 be postures with Shea as a red shirt freshman thereafter. With coach O and a vastly improved DLINE, he gets 9+ wins the next 2 years and then the super era of LSU football comes to us and him for his last few years in coaching.

He's also averaging 3 losses a year if you want to play the average numbers game.
